Back the Break Clause
In 2023, the UK government handed a massive contract to handle huge amounts of sensitive NHS data to an American software company known for its role in drone strikes and deportations - Palantir. In the CEO’s own words, “Palantir is here to scare our enemies and, on occasion, kill them.”
In February 2027, Palantir’s contract with NHS England comes to an end. The government has a choice whether to extend it, or break the contract. Now is the time to call on MPs, local hospitals and councils to “Back the Break Clause” and demand that the government does not renew Palantir’s NHS contract!

About the campaign
Palantir software is frequently used by the US military, the Israeli military, police forces, and ICE. Their contract with the NHS is a threat to human rights, data privacy and public sector integrity — but you can help get it cancelled!
Why take action?
Oppose genocide
In January 2024, Palantir signed a contract with the Israeli military to use its technology in support of ‘war-related missions’. The contract was signed while Israel was committing genocide in Gaza - a genocide that is ongoing as Israeli occupation forces continue to deliberately create unliveable conditions for Palestinians.
Oppose surveillance and deportations
Palantir’s software has been used for surveillance by police and border forces in many countries. In May, it was revealed that some Palantir staff were given ‘unlimited access’ to highly sensitive patient data which is identifiable to the individual. Meanwhile, in the US, Palantir is using Department of Health data to help ICE target migrants for mass deportation. Reform UK’s policy document ‘Operation Restoring Justice’ includes a proposal to build a powerful surveillance database using data mined from across UK government, healthcare, financial, and police databases. Palantir UK CEO Louis Mosley then confirmed that if Reform won the next general election with a “clear public mandate” to allow NHS data to be used for immigration enforcement, then the company would execute the plan.
Build NHS systems for the public good, not private profit
This contract is an example of privatisation of the NHS. Instead of giving millions of public money to US corporations, the NHS should build in-house innovation, support NHS tech workers, and keep the public sector in control of any health data systems.
